PORTFOLIO

The project
I joined the company initially as a translator for one of its flagship courses, Spanish for English speakers. A few months later, I was put in charge of doing the final checks and publishing the content for the course.
My team and I successfully created the higher levels of the course, which went on to become Duolingo’s most popular course in terms of active users.
The role also came to incorporate QA tasks, assisting other teams on other language pairs, and collaborating in other projects and experiments.
The challenge
As well as working in several languages (Spanish, English, Italian, French, Portuguese, and Catalan), my work also required a blend of technical skills and linguistic knowledge as I worked as the main liaison between the Learning and Engineering teams.

The project
Everyone has a decent camera in their pocket nowadays. But at Polaroid, they don’t just sell devices to take pretty pictures—they offer customers the chance to immortalise precious memories that will last a lifetime.
In recent years, Polaroid has become a reference in the marketing world thanks to their fun, simple and creative tone.
Since 2023, I’ve been doing localization for new product pages, tech documents, how-to guides, video subtitles, and the latest OOH campaign which enjoyed viral success.
The challenge
Polaroid is probably the most creatively challenging company I work with. They’re known for their catchy one-liners, and it takes a lot of work to come up with something equally short and snappy without compromising the message, the humour, and all the cultural and artistic references they like to include.

The project
The popular design platform has embraced AI like no other. They’ve gone through a major product diversification: new Magic design tools, AI-powered workplace apps, Design School and more. In 2024, I joined their localization team as a translator and editor.
The challenge
With such a wide range of Canva products, consistency is key. There’s also a strong creative component, often in fast-paced conditions due to the company’s dynamic communication style.

The project
From TravelPerk to Perk: a shorter name, a bigger challenge. The popular platform for travel and spend went through a major rebrand, including lots of transcreation and localization work: website, internal emails, marketing materials, resources and more. I worked on this project both as a translator and as an editor.
The challenge
This rebrand was a huge milestone for Perk, and they used the campaign to introduce themselves to a broader audience. There was a lot of pressure to deliver top-notch work, including translations of key vocabulary that they’ll be using as part of their branding throughout all future communications and marketing campaigns.

The project
From sealing a fireplace to glueing handicrafts, Henkel wanted to transcreate some of their most successful US blog articles for their Spanish market. Each master text comes with a very well selected set of keywords to include in the Spanish articles, which got them two nominations for the 2020 Global Search Awards.
The challenge
Apart from the language and cultural nuances, many of Loctite’s Spanish products differ from the US ones. The same goes for regulations and legal warnings, which are very relevant when talking about strong adhesives.

The project
Spanish is the second fastest spoken language in the world and it conveys a surprisingly low amount of information per syllable. Subtitling is highly influenced by time, meaning it constantly requires creative ways to communicate the same ideas with fewer words. On top of this, TV series and movies have the tricky but fascinating challenge of translating humor or complex feelings.
The challenge
This work was contracted via an intermediary client that arranged translations for various platforms. I’ve translated movies and TV shows for platforms like Netflix, Disney+, BBC and more. Particularly in my early years as a freelancer, I translated diverse types of productions, encompassing fiction, non-fiction, and reality TV.

Branded Content
The project
Since late 2017, I’ve written hundreds of articles for EXTE, a company providing both the content and the technology for brands to showcase their message on the websites of some of Spain’s biggest news outlets. Some of my recurring work includes automotives (Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Ford, Volkswagen, Honda, Dacia, Mitsubishi), energy, construction, education, technology, retail, and more.
The challenge
I work for many different industries and brands, each with its own unique tone of voice. The articles have to be true to the brand’s spirit, but relevant enough for the readers of all types of news outlets.
